Notifications when an observation is shared
When you give someone access to an observation, Proserva lets them know right away. They receive both an in-app notification (the bell icon in the top navigation) and an email.
The notification says that you shared an observation with them, includes the observation title, and links straight to the observation.
Who gets notified
Anyone you add to an observation's access list is notified, other than the teacher being observed. That includes:
Another coach you bring in to collaborate on the observation.
An administrator or mentor you give access to.
A teacher you share the observation with for reference, such as a peer.
You are never notified about your own observations, and you won't be notified for access you give yourself.
The teacher being observed is notified at release
The teacher who is the subject of the observation is not notified when you first create it or add them as the observee. This is deliberate, so a draft observation stays private while you're still working on it.
That teacher is notified when you press the Release button, where you can choose whether to notify them. Until then, your feedback stays hidden from them.
Good to know
Each person is notified once per observation when you first give them access.
Changing someone's permission later (View, Observe, or Edit) does not send another notification.
If you remove someone and add them back, they are notified again.
What the recipient can see and do in the observation still depends on the permission you gave them.
