Proserva is built specifically for training and evaluating educators. One of its most powerful features is the ability to embed video observations directly into course activities. This makes it easy to assign, track, and assess teaching practice—all within the LMS.

With embedded observations:

  • You can assign a video-based observation as part of any lesson or activity

  • Candidates can upload teaching videos, lesson plans, and self-reflections

  • Instructors, coaches, and invited reviewers can leave feedback and complete rubrics—right inside the platform

  • Observations are easily accessible in the gradebook and can sync with course rubrics

How to Embed an Observation in a Lesson

1. Navigate to Course Content

2. Add a new activity or open an existing activity.

3. Toggle the Observation feature on.

4. Add Instructions for what to look for in the observation.

5. Add any grading or rubrics and publish or save the lesson. Rubrics added will show in the observation.

What Participants See

1. Course/Program participants will see the instructions that you have added.

2. They can click "New Observation" or "Select Observation".

3. If a new Observation is created, it will open in a new tab.

Participants may upload a video, lesson plans, and give comments.

Instructors, coaches, and anyone invited to the observation may also leave feedback, rubrics, or fill out forms. See this guide on observations for more information:

4. Once selected or added, the observation will be linked on the course activity.

5. As an instructor, you can view the observation in the gradebook.

6. Click on the observation to view it, leave comments, rubrics, or fill out forms. The rubrics filled out in the observation may be linked to the course rubric if they are the same.

FAQs

Can candidates upload multiple videos for one observation?

Each observation can only have one video file at this time. You may combine multiple different files into one for free using the online tool Adobe Express.

Who can view and comment on an observation?

Only individuals invited to the observation (e.g., assigned coach, course instructor) can leave feedback or complete rubrics/forms.

What types of files can candidates upload?

All major video formats are supported. Files may be up to 2GB in size. Attached files can be of any type and less than 50 mb each.

Can I edit the instructions or rubric after publishing?

Yes, but changes made after participants begin submissions may not retroactively update previously started observations.

Where can I learn more about the observation tool?

Check out our full Observation Tool Guide for detailed information on creating, sharing, and reviewing observations.
