Instructors can preview their courses to see the content exactly as students will experience it. Follow the steps below to view lessons, check hidden or locked items, and review student progress.

Access Your Course

  1. Log in to Proserva.

  2. Open the Learn tab.

  3. In My Courses and Workshops, review the courses you are enrolled in.

  4. Scroll down to see completed courses.

  5. If you are an instructor, your instructor courses appear lower on the page.

Open the Course Editor or Manager

  1. Select Edit on your course. Some courses show Manage based on your permissions.

  2. If Edit is not available, select Manage instead.

  3. In Edit mode, you will see a full set of options. In Manage, the options are more limited.

Preview the Course

  1. Select the Preview link inside the course.

  2. A new tab opens showing the student view.

  3. Lessons appear in sections. Some districts call these modules.

  4. Select a section to expand and view the lessons inside it.

Hidden Lessons

  • Hidden lessons appear darker with a Hidden label.

  • Students cannot see hidden lessons.

  • Instructors can see them because they have editing permissions.

Locked Lessons

  • Locked lessons show a lock icon.

  • Lessons can be locked for date access or for completion requirements.

  • Students will gain access when the scheduled date arrives or when prerequisites are met.

Preview Mode by Individual Student

  1. In the preview tab, select Preview Mode.

  2. Choose a student from the list of registered learners.

  3. You will see nearly the same view the student sees.

  4. Completed lessons display a checkmark.

  5. Hidden lessons still appear for you as an instructor, but not for the student.

  6. Locked lessons show whether a student can access them.

Close the preview tab when you are done. Each preview opens a new tab.

Using the Gradebook

  1. Return to the course editor.

  2. Open the Gradebook.

  3. Review which items need marking.

  4. Select a submission to read the student work.

  5. Provide feedback and apply a grade if required.

Editing Lessons

  1. Open the Course Content tab.

  2. Review the full list of lessons, including hidden items.

  3. Select any lesson to make updates or small edits.

External Courses and SCORM Files

Some lessons link to external courses.

  1. These lessons display a Course External label.

  2. When selected by a student, a new window opens for the external content.

  3. If an ad blocker is active, the external window may not load. Disable the ad blocker if needed.

  4. Students complete the content in the new window.

  5. When the window is closed, the browser returns the student to Proserva automatically.

  6. If the requirements of the external course are met, the lesson receives a checkmark.

Summary

Instructors can preview any course, view content by individual student, check hidden or locked items, and review grades. External courses open in a separate window and return students to Proserva once completed.
